Best of luck to you all and I hope you have a fantastic St. Patty’s Day today, try not to drink too much green beer, especially if you still have to go to work tomorrow. For some inspiration, scroll down for some aqua green lingerie in the spirit of this holiday. For anyone wondering, my ancestry, according to the family tree created by my Great Grandmother, is a quarter Irish, a quarter Scottish and mostly English but to be clear, my family has been living in Canada for many generations.

The first time I saw this beige and black body suit online, I knew I would love it. The black lace gives off a gothic vintage vibe that is exactly my style. In fact, this reminds me of the other day when Kobi Jae asked what our dream over the top manicure would be and I described something perfect for this ensemble. Let’s be honest, there is something so sexy about the way the straps all attach to the collar around the neck. On trend because choker necklaces are back in. The bra straps are still adjustable. I am wearing a size 1X and it fits pretty great but I don’t quite fill out the cups, I’m normally a size 36D so this would best fit a true DDD in my opinion. It fits perfectly around my waist and my hips. My torso is pretty long and it fits me that way as well, but it is tight. This piece is made with a thick satin like material so it offers full coverage except for the black side panels that are made of mesh. The garter straps are removable if you would prefer to go without them. It is a full bra cup with lining and a one piece, it covers more than many bathing suits.

On that note, I note I need to take a moment to talk feminist analysis here, without the lace, the neck collar, and the garter straps, this would be incredibly similar to a one-piece bathing suit. Covering the same amount of skin as the now famous Gabi Fresh green zipper number. So anyone that would try to slut shames a person for wearing this outfit has some very strange ideas about what a woman can and can’t wear. Remember that here in Ontario, where I live, a woman can legally go topless and wearing only a thong at any public beach is absolutely acceptable. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Plus, the whole idea behind wardrobe policing and slut shaming plays into creating a rape culture where victims are blamed for their rapist’s behaviour because of the clothing choices she made. We need to focus on what the perpetrator did, not on what the victim was wearing or doing at the time. It is 2016 and it is okay for grown ass women to be sexy and sexual. This is especially important to show publicly when you are a woman of size because people still have a stereotype of fat women as asexual. You may recall the reaction to Gabourey Sidibe’s sex scene on the popular show Empire and the resulting #MyFatSexStory hashtag. The scene was like so many others on the show, but because of fatphobia people on the internet, lost their shit. This is part of why I feel it is important for us to see plus size women wearing lingerie and looking sexy while doing so. Representation matters and visibility is critical to changing people’s minds and breaking down harmful and hurtful stereotypes.

The second piece is new to Lashes’N’Lace for Spring 2016 and it is the perfect colour for the season. It is an aqua colour that really pops off my skin tone. This number is quite lacy and sheer but has just enough coverage for the places that matter. Again I am wearing a 1X and I normally wear a dress size 12, top size 0 and a pant size 16 at Torrid, for your easy comparison. Lashes’N’Lace stocks up to a 4X in all of their plus size items and most of their straight size items have a plus size option in the same style. I prefer the fit on this one and that is mostly because of my new found love for underwire supported soft cup lingerie. As a plus size woman, I didn’t think it was something I could wear successfully but now I see that I can and I like it because it is just a little bit extra feminine. Plus it means they fit my breasts perfectly, but could accommodate someone with a larger cup size also. My long torso is a bit of an issue here if I stretch up too much and the half belt around the midsection made posing a bit awkward. I’ll probably carefully detach it before I next wear it because I absolutely love the bodysuit but I’ve always disliked fake sewn on belts. That is just my opinion, maybe you would love it exactly as it is. So tell me in the comments, what items are you first going to buy if you win the gift card? Are you buying them for yourself, or treating someone special?

Lashes’n’Lace provided me with this lingerie as a part of our collaboration agreement, so that I could demonstrate quality and fit of these items to my readers and followers. So women who look similar to me could see the bodysuits on a woman who looks like them. However, you can fully trust that I will always give my honest opinion on this blog and on all of my social media pages.
