SWAK Designs, which stands for Sealed With A Kiss, is my new favourite plus size brand. I’m not sure how I’ve gone this long without trying them I blame living in Canada and always being the last to know about amazing brands based out of the United States. Their prices are super reasonable and they offer free shipping over $99 to almost all locations, see their website shipping FAQ for the specific details but chances are great that you qualify for free shipping. Once you start shopping with them, you can earn points for free items based on how much you spend as well as based on the number of friends you refer, so make sure to sign up for their refer-a-friend program. Plus, when you sign up, you will get 25% off your next purchase instantly.
The first thing I love about SWAK Designs is their company name and how it correlates with the fact that I almost always sign my social media posts with the kiss-shaped lips emoji, kind of a cute coincidence. Second, their clothes are the definition of comfortable and cute. I love to look good and feel sexy but quite frankly, if it isn’t the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn, it likely won’t last the whole day. I rarely get changed after work because what I wore all day could probably also suffice as lounge or sleepwear. That’s just my style. SWAK is perfect for me because they feature a ton of soft flowing fabrics and items with extremely easy to wear cuts. It has been a long time since I have worn such femme but somehow still casual outfits and I’m in love.
SWAK is based out of LA and many of their items are actually made in the USA which makes me feel even better about wearing them. They’ve been producing trendy, affordable, plus size fashions since 2008 and part of what makes them so amazing is that the brand’s clothing is all designed by plus size women who also wear the clothes they make. They carry sizes 14-36 which also makes them one of the more inclusive plus size brands out there as so many stop at size 24-26 which leaves out a huge portion of the plus size community. SWAK is doing a great job at being inclusive in their size range.
SWAK is very well-known for their Eternity Convertible Dress, but I wanted to give that lovely number it’s own post since it’s possible to wear it so many different ways and therefore I have quite a few photos to share. The Eternity Dress comes in both short and long versions as well as a ton of different colours, so be sure to click through to my full blog post dedicated just to that one dress. Just a note up front, all of these items, including the Eternity convertible dress, are in size 1X and fit me flawlessly, so you can absolutely order with confidence that the items reviewed here, all fit true to size.
So, I am going to start with their California Maxi Skirt, which I am wearing here in grey. I’m already a huge fan of a good maxi skirt because I think they are the best way to feel comfortable but look a bit dressed up, but I absolutely love this colour and design. The fold-over waist band allows you control over how high or low you wear the skirt and how wide you make the band itself. Personally, I am a huge fan of empire waist lines for skirts, dresses and shirts, so I went with it sitting up quite high, almost directly under my bust line. I’ve paired it with a simple black tank top and very simple jewellery. You can’t really see them here but I have on black gladiator style sandals that I got on sale last summer.
The handkerchief style Roxie Skirt reminds me of my favourite, but sadly, long-lost, dress from last summer. It was black and white stripes but it had the same cut as this lovely one from SWAK. Paired here with a classic leopard print tank top and bronze jewellery, its casual look for the weekend. Switch out those candles for pumps or a simple ballet flat and it would be work appropriate for a summer office. The skirt is long enough to accommodate my desire to wear it up near a natural empire waist line, which I really love. The stretchy waist band allows my body to change as it does throughout the day and the month as I eat and as my hormones change. In the interest of body positivity, I want to mention how normal it is for our bodies to adjust that way.
The Amber Shrug is the comfy cozy winner of this amazing group of competitors. The second I put it on I knew that it would be my new favourite sweater to wear. It is actually quite lightweight but my favourite quality is how soft it feels to the touch. This is also in grey but a lighter Heather Grey version than the California Maxi Skirt above. I think it works perfectly with jeans and a simple tank top. Ultimately, because of the feminine cut and the neutral colour it could be worn with almost anything. I anticipate pairing this shrug with everything from yoga gear during a restorative session to a maxi dress on a cooler summer night after a day in the sun.
The grey-blue flowing fabric at the bottom of the Fergie Tank, quickly elevates it from a simple black tank top to something slightly dressed up and very femme. Another super soft fabric that fits really well and looks great on. I’m wearing it here without anything over it so that you can see all of the details but I actually prefer it over jeans and under either a blazer or a black cardigan. For me, all of these outfits are appropriate for everything from going to work, to the dog park to the beach or really anywhere in-between. I think that is what makes SWAK Designs so amazing, they work for any and every event you need to navigate. I am sure you will love them as much as I do.
