I’ve talked about the importance of building a wardrobe that not only fits but that you absolutely love when you are working on loving your body. If you are like me, that meant pretty much starting from scratch after I finally ditched all the endless leggings and empire waist tunics. It took a fair amount of time and a little bit of money, so I definitely came to rely on being able to get basic items at a reasonable cost. Using those basics I have learned to change up the way I accessories to create entirely different outfits.
These two neutral coloured maxi dresses from Curvy Sense are the perfect example of what I mean by a basic wardrobe essential that will easily take you from season to season. When you are able to accessorize one item into multiple outfits it will make it seem like you have a much fuller closet than you actually do.
Not only can you do this within the same season but you can also do it from season to season, especially from late summer into early fall. It is all about adding layers, of course. And really, how you do that is completely up to you but I wanted to show you a few examples for style inspiration.
First in this blog post is the black maxi dress from Curvy Sense, it has a high slit on my left leg topped off by gathered fabric that really helps to show off my curves. To be blunt, the dress makes me feel sexy. My summer look includes a floppy felt hat, basic black flip flops, and a DIY choker necklace that I made with faux suede from the dollar store.
In my fall look, I’ve paired the black maxi dress from Curvy Sense with a long sleeved green open front cardigan, black ballet flats, and a long silver key charm necklace. Both looks are ridiculously comfortable and have actually turned into my go to outfit for relaxing around the house. It’s just such an easy outfit to put together and wear.
I paired the olive green maxi dress from Curvy Sense with this adorable black and white detailed bomber jacket from Pink Clove to take it from summer to fall. The bomber jacket is one of fall’s biggest trends and it is such an easy way to accessorize an otherwise simple outfit. See all the ways I’m wearing this trend for autumn, by clicking through.
Curvy Sense has provided me with these items as a part of our collaboration agreement so that I could demonstrate their fit to my readers. However, you can fully trust that I will always give my honest opinion. The hat is from Joe Fresh and can still be found in some stores, it is from this season.
