As bloggers, we often have a planned schedule for our blogs in terms of when we take our photos, when we write our content, and when we publish our posts. Even if it is less set in stone by the brands we are working with and more about our own availability and convenience, we schedule ourselves appropriately. Unfortunately, things don’t always go exactly as planned and the main reason for that is the weather. Continue reading “When The Outfit Is Right But The Weather Is Wrong”
When I posted the first blog post featuring these boots, I got comments on all of my social media platforms asking where I got them. Women were telling me they struggled to find both thigh high and knee high boots that fit their thicker bodies. So I’ve compiled a list of my favourite wide calf and plus size thigh high boots so you can start shopping today. Continue reading “Thigh High Boots for Thick Thighs”
I am so excited to bring you an exclusive sneak peek at the brand Loralette before it has even launched! I’ve partnered with them to bring you a behind the scenes look at what they will be offering. Loralette is the newest collection from Avenue, the third largest plus-size retailer in the USA, that also ships to Canada, yay! Their new styles are meant to appeal to a younger or at least trendier shopper. Because really, what is age but a number? So I believe that you should wear what you love no matter what that number is. I honestly haven’t been this excited about a new brand in a very long time and that’s exactly why I agreed to show you a sneak peek of what they will have to offer as of mid-March. Learning to love your body is not always easy. In fact, some body parts are harder to love than others. I’m sure that’s a feeling you can relate to. It might be easy to love our full breasts and shapely legs but is it as easy to love our cellulite and body rolls? For so many of us, the answer is no. We learn to love our shape and size but we’d prefer if we could change one or two small details. I’ve seen some of the most inspiring body love gurus post similar comments so I know this is true. So how do we take it further? How do we learn to love the parts of ourselves that society has taught us to hate the most?
I recently made a post on Instagram about the spring trends I had previously seen on the runways and I am now seeing in the stores and online. The one that topped the list, in my opinion, was floral prints. I think it is the perfect spring trend as flowers are literally starting to bloom all around us. As a former Queen’s University student it brings be a great deal of joy to see the future alumni doing their thing during their four years in Kingston. Some like me, will either stay or return in the long run, but others will move away after graduation and never return. So these are special times for everyone involved in the KAIROS show because for many it could turn out to be the only fashion event they ever produce together. I can relate as a person who joined the cast in several local theatre productions. So when I was given the opportunity to take in this charity fashion show, I jumped at the chance to cover it for you. Continue reading “KAIROS: A Fashion Show For Project Red”
This gorgeous red and black polka dot midi length dress is a dream come true with its short sleeve length and hip hugging stretch. SexyPlus Clothing also stocks a longer sleeve version in black and white that is equally gorgeous. I chose the red because I am trying my best to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe as a person who is kind of obsessed with black and neutral earth tones. I like how even though this dress is vintage in design it can be worn in an everyday style by pairing it with a modern hairstyle and simple shoes. I also love how this is one of the sexiest dresses I own and yet I am completely covered, with even my normally visible cleavage tucked away. It is proof that plus size women can absolutely rock a bodycon dress at any size.
I love introducing you to plus size brands that are accessibly priced, easy to wear, and on trend. This size range goes from 14 to 36 in UK sizing, which is the equivalent of size 12 to 34 in US sizing. Or, in the sizing system that I think makes the most sense, the European one, they offer sizes 42 to 64. Needless to say, Yours Clothing is a pretty great example of a brand that is offering something for almost every size from inbetweener to plus size. Continue reading “A Night Out With Yours Clothing”
You may have noticed that I’ve slowly moved away from having a strictly body positive blog and that I have been embracing fatshion blogging. The reason why is worthy of its very own blog post so I won’t get into that here, but what I do what to address are the ways fatshion blogging is body positive activism. I’ve noticed a certain amount of exclusion in the body positive community, and one of the groups that seems to be excluded is fatshion bloggers. Many of the most popular mainstream body positive activists don’t follow or promote fatshion bloggers, and yet many of us repost them and their photos regularly. I have a problem with this because I think it is yet another example of the body positive movement being watered down and not respecting or even acknowledging its roots. Can you wear white in the winter? A few years ago we might have still been confused by this fashion rule and avoided wearing white after Labour Day, but now we know better. Or do we? Does that rule cancellation apply to all shapes and sizes? Or only some? Are plus size women allowed to wear white? Not only in the winter but any season at all?
